Harvest

The seed was planted early
and ripened in the sun,
but left to sit a while,
it rotted 'til there's none.
Yet some of it is still intact,
and with a little rain,
my love for you will take its roots;
grow fresh and new again.

Platypus

Platypus, Platypus, what are you for?
You look like a duck, but you're covered with fur.
Your glands excrete poison as you swim in the sea;
your young are hatched from eggs, not born live like me;
a curious way for a mammal to be born,
down in Australia where waters are warm.
Whatever you are, and whatever you do,
feel safe in the knowledge that I love you.

Iniquity

Evil minds have corrupted us,
rotting away our values like rust on metal,
twisting our thoughts and our deeds to betray
thow who would love us.
Some would suggest that evil is black,
but I believe it to be multi-chromatic,
for nothing can be successful which is not diverse.
It can be said that evil feeds on diversity,
playing on our fears, dreams, and ambitions,
turning them against us,
dragging us into the depths of
hell itself.

Annoyance In General

It's said to be almost impossible
to tear a phone book in half.
But after trying to use one,
I don't think it would be too hard.

Busy Signals

I lost my phone book,
and then I lost my lunch.
I can't live without you;
I love you a bunch.
I need you to get by
through every dismal day,
but I lost your number,
and now I can't say
how much I miss you
and wish you well.
Because of my ignorance,
I'm living in hell.

For Sy

Hair on a tennis ball, why is it there?
Perhaps to help it bounce better;
but it really annoys those whose heads are bare,
and showing bald patches of leather.
It's become very marketable, The Hair Club for Men,
to cover up nature's mistakes,
but how can they call it "The Hair Club," when
its members lack fur on their pates?
I don't understand, it's a mystery to me,
this fear of an increasing forehead,
but if you lose hair, whatever age you may be,
you're a loser.(At least that's what Sy said.)
